The project represents a platform created on the blockchain basis and intended for the exchange of video content in a p2p mode in a completely safe and transparent system. The project creates a fair reward for content authors and removes numerous mediators who take away most of the authors' fees.

    Risks and disadvantages

The idea of this project isn't new and moreover, it doesn't provide any original solutions, although the solution of such a problem by itself is quite relevant. Already there are quite a lot of startups working in this market which use blockchain technology, but none of them has achieved serious success so far.

No doubt that theme of the project is very relevant and topical and decision on the exchange of author's content or obtaining fair fees in online mode is necessary for the market and undoubtedly that in the long-term perspective such solutions will be successful and could bring big profits for their creators and investors.

This is an attractive platform for creators video content and viewers and also for
advertisers. Using Verasity-platform content creators can monetize their channels and viewers can support the channels they like. The product is patent pending.

    Risks and disadvantages

Facebook page looks interesting. But I doubt that 196511 users like this page, because the most popular publications have no more than 200 likes, so the rest 196300 users are permanently inactive.

The project aims to create a useful product, it has partners and support in press and the team tries to do their best.

Verasity is a very clever video sharing platform which should change the game of the video hosting services bringing a blockchain solution. I would expect an explicit transparency and flexibility for the end users based on the specific details described in the relevant supporting documentation (White Paper, Economic, etc.).

    Risks and disadvantages

I appeal to add more details about the Team and development plan to the roadmap, as the current description is very short and looks too optimistic to the majority of the investors. It's quite difficult to identify key milestones of the project browsing the documentation, so highlighting more specific points on the roadmap might attract more investors.

Blockchain-based video sharing hosting with a granular idea description along with the solid team.

Availability besides a Whitepaper an Economic Whitepaper. Experienced team-members and advisors of the project. The platform has detailed data of crowsale information ( soft cap and hard cap ).

    Risks and disadvantages

The only possible drawback is the absence of any alpha or demo version of the platform.

I would suggest investors to look attentively at this ICO. It is highly advertised on the Media and has a potential. Thus, it has a wide rage of social networks ( Facebook, Medium, Telegram channels)

The team is strong, they participated in many blockchain conferences and events.

    Risks and disadvantages

As we can read in Veracity Economics "The platform controls the money supply and can use newly minted tokens to provide incentives for market participants to trade". But additional amount of tockens can cause decrease of tocken`s value. Yet we can read on verasity.io that "Veracity economy will target a maximum inflation rate of 3% and burn any coins that push up inflation above the target". Ok, it`s good, but I think tocken`s value won`t grow in this system.

I think if one belongs to the target audience and intends to use the platform then it is reasonable for him to invest in this project. Just don`t invest for earning money.

A serious team with an impressive professional background and already successfully implemented projects.
An interesting idea of the platform, built on the new principles of content sharing.

    Risks and disadvantages

    Limited potential of platform scaling.
Relatively small number of potentially interested users.
Hard Cap does not seem to be sufficient to create and promote such a serious, complex product.
Information on the budget and distribution of tokens is not disclosed.

Well prepared ICO with a good presentation, informative white paper and additional set of documents.
A great work has been done. There is evidence that this is a truly working technology.
Although I would still like to see some prototype first.

    Frequently asked questions

How does Verasity differ from other videos platforms?

Current video platforms serve as a way for Creators to share content and a place for audiences to watch. Existing platforms have many stakeholders who all take their cut of the profit before Content Creators even get their “fair share”.

Verasity strips all of this back and simplifies the value exchange so it’s directly between the Creator and their audience. By reducing the number of stakeholders, Verasity makes sure that more money is put into the community, ecosystem and economy, rather than being extracted by third-parties and middlemen.

Why does Verasity use centralized servers vs P2P?

Whilst peer-to-peer (P2P) video players are a way of reducing platform cost, during the years of development the Verasity team has spent with video distribution, we concluded that P2P is currently a poor way of distributing a large and ever-growing video library.

P2P video platforms currently only work where a very large number of users want to watch a small number of videos. This means less popular videos, such as those from niche Content Creators, will always suffer from poor loading and quality issues on a P2P system.

Verasity uses a premium content delivery network which ensures that all Content Creators and Viewers receive the best playback experience, whilst Verasity’s UDP based video player still minimizes platform costs. This video technology has been proven at scale, having already delivered over 8 PetaBytes of video data per month.

What’s wrong with only watching an advert before content to pay Creators?

On current video platforms, usually, Viewers either have to pay large monthly subscriptions or watch adverts if they wish to support Creators.

With advertising funded models, a viewer from the USA, watching an average 30-second advert, only generates around $0.01 (or c.$1.2 per hour of ads watched). Of this, only a small portion gets paid to the Creator with the majority going to corporations and advertiser middle-men. Even with such a small amount reaching Creators, only an estimated 1 in 3 videos even get monetized with advertising enabled.

Using blockchain technology, Verasity creates an ecosystem and economy where Viewers can give VERA to Creators directly. By cutting out the middlemen, more money gets to the Creators. Additionally, we don’t limit Content Creators to a single way to monetize. Creators can choose a donation, pay-per-view or monthly subscription model to monetize their content.

Advertising is still an important part of the Verasity ecosystem and economy - what we change is how Advertisers and Viewers interact. On Verasity, Viewers opt-in to watch adverts. When a Viewer watches an advert, VERA is transferred from the Advertiser wallet to the Viewers wallet. Advertising becomes one way for Viewers to earn VERA in order to pay Creators for content they love.

Why would a user want to spend VERA to get a VeraSpark in a channel?

Aside from it being a great way of helping their favourite Content Creators to accelerate the growth of their channel, users who buy VeraSparks in a channel with VERA receive a part of the channel’s future VERA earnings all while they own the VeraSpark.

This means users can not only have a hand in helping a channel grow, but benefit directly from the success they helped create. Win-win!

Why would a Creator want to offer part of their future VERA earnings in VeraSparks?

As Content Creators continue to grow their career, community, and channel, they encounter increasing expectations in terms of quality, availability and schedule. While the majority of Creators start their channels as a hobby, it can quickly become a full-time career.

The transition between hobby and career can often be challenging, especially with the increased time and money required to meet expectations. The Spark Marketplace gives Creators a way to fund and accelerate the growth of their channel. There are many reasons Creators and Publishers may need help funding growth such as new equipment or staff.

In addition to funding, by selling VeraSparks in their channel Creators and Publishers have a way to give back to their fans who helped fuel their success. This helps grow the bond between the Creator and their fans who now have added incentives to help grow the channel.

As the Spark Marketplace grows, many different types of Creators and Publishers may choose to use this new way to fund growth of their content. One day, the Verasity community could be buying VeraSparks to launch feature films!

How will Verasity manage Creator rights & moderation?

Verasity will primarily empower the community to moderate itself, but there will be situations where action needs to be taken to avoid risks to the economy as a whole. When action from theplatform is required, it will be as a result of clearly defined rules to avoid any third parties manipulating the system.

As Verasity enables a direct value exchange between Viewers and Creators, only clear policy violations should require platform action. Tools such as the upload limit for Creators naturally act to limit freedom given to content that is unwanted by the community.

Further details on how Verasity will manage moderation to create a stable and long-term content ecosystem and economy can be found within the White Paper.
